Why Should I Study This Course?

Physical Education is an interesting and enjoyable A Level subject, which can be taken in combination with any other subjects.
Students do not need to have taken GCSE PE to study the subject at A Level. At the start of the course, students are provided with specially prepared booklets containing all of the notes for the course and examination papers to help revision.

What Would I Study?

Component 1 - Physiological factors affecting performance (Anatomy & Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics)
Component 2 - Psychological Factors Affecting Performance
Component 3 - Socio-cultural & Contemporary Issues
Component 4 - Assessment (Performance or Coaching Practical, Evaluation & Analysis)

How and When is it Assessed?

All assessment takes place at the end of Year 13.
Component 1 - 2 hour exam = 30%
Component 2 - 1 hour exam = 20%
Component 3 - 1 hour exam = 20%
Component 4 - Non-examined assessment = 30%

Where Can This Course Take me?

Physical Education can be used to gain access to a wide range of higher education courses and careers. For students wishing to specialise in sport, teaching, leisure and health related industries, Physical Education is an excellent choice.
